Walk around your home and observe both the interior and exterior.

Think about the following questions:

  1. Is your home cool enough in warm months? Warm enough in cool months?

  2. Walk through inside and outside of home. Are there areas of your home that allow outside air to pass between inside and outside of home? Does your home have insulation that keeps the air at a comfortable temperature inside without it leaking out or colder/warmer air from leaking in?

  3. Speak to the adults in your home. Work with them to estimate: what percentage of household income is devoted to heating and cooling?

Take 2-3 photos of parts of your home that you think affect temperature (windows, walls, roof, doors, gaps, etc.).

After completing this observation:
Go to “Assignment - Home Energy Assessment” and submit your answers and photos.
